The Holy Spirit is God’s gift and presence, given to fill, strengthen, guide, and prepare His people for the coming of the Lord. God has said, “I will pour out My Spirit on all people. I will pour out the early rain and the latter rain upon you. I will pour out My Spirit on My servants, both men and women.”

Why Do We Need the Holy Spirit?

We need the Holy Spirit to prepare us for the coming of the Lord. Those who have received water baptism must also seek Holy Spirit baptism. John the Baptist said, “I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who comes after me is mightier than I. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Matthew 3:11

Water baptism is important, but our walk with God does not end there. We must also desire the Hily Spirit because God wants to fill His children with His presence and power. Receiving the Holy Spirit is not simply about knowing a doctrine; it is about yielding our lives to God and walking in His presence.

The Believers at Ephesus

Paul traveled through many regions preaching the Gospel and came to Ephesus in Asia Minor. There he found a group of believers gathered together. Paul asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, We have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit. Acts 19:1-6

This account reminds us that we should not remain unaware of the Spirit. God wants His people to know His Spirit, receive His Spirit, and experience His presence.

The Laying on of Hands in the Bible

1. Acts 19:6-7 :- Paul laid his hands on the believers and prayed. The Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. There were about twelve men in all.
2. Acts 8:17:- Peter and John laid their hands on the believers and prayed for them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
3. Mark 16:18:- Jesus said that believers would lay their hands on the sick, and they would recover. God can work through the hands of His servants.
4. Isaiah 59:1:- “The LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save.” His hand is still mighty to save.
5. John 10:28–29:- Jesus said that no one can snatch His people from His hand, and no one can take them from the Father’s hand. His hand is a place of security and protection.
6. Mark 5:41:- Jesus took the little girl by the hand and said, “Little girl, arise.” He lifted her from death into life.
7. Luke 23:39-43:- One of the criminals hanging beside Jesus asked Him to remember him when He came into His kingdom. Jesus answered him with a promise of salvation. Even in His final moments, the Savior extended His mercy and reached out to save a sinner.
8. Matthew 14:29-32:- When Peter began to sink, he cried, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out His hand, took hold of Peter, and lifted him up.
9. Matthew 8:3:- Jesus stretched out His hand, touched the leper, and made him clean. His touch brought healing and restoration.
10. Psalm 136:12:- With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, God brought the Israelites through the Red Sea. His hand made a way where there seemed to be no way.
11. Genesis 19:16:- When Lot hesitated before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the angels took hold of Lot, his wife, and his daughters by the hand and brought them out, rescuing them from destruction.
12. Isaiah 46:3-4:- God promises to carry His people even into old age. He will sustain them and carry them until their hair is gray. His hand never grows weak.
13. Luke 24:50-51:- Jesus lifted His hands and blessed His disciples before ascending into heaven. Even as He departed, He left them with His blessing.

The Holy Spirit reminds us that we are never walking through life alone. The same God who reached out His hand to save, heal, deliver, protect, lift, and bless His people is still able to work in our lives today.

The Holy Spirit empowers us, prepares us, guides us, and draws us closer to God. Through the Holy Spirit, we learn to depend on God’s strength rather than our own.

Today, may the Lord place His hand upon you and bless you. May He fill you with the Holy Spirit, strengthen your faith, and prepare your heart for His coming.

May we remain under His mighty hand, walk in His presence, and experience the blessing of His right hand, where there are pleasures forevermore.
