The Rising of the Sun of Righteousness – The Lord Jesus Christ died, rose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven. But between His death and resurrection, His disciples experienced a period of deep darkness. Their hearts were filled with sorrow, confusion, and hopelessness
However, early in the morning, when the women came to the tomb, their lives experienced a spiritual sunrise. The sorrow, pain, despair, and darkness disappeared. The Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, had risen, bringing great joy and hope into their hearts.
Before the Sun of Righteousness rose from the grave, darkness covered the land during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Luke 23:45–46). But on the resurrection morning, the Sun of Righteousness rose with power and victory even before the earthly sun appeared (Matthew 28:1-4).
The Bible promises in the Book of Malachi:
“But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:2)
Throughout the Bible, we see a powerful truth: whenever people walked through darkness, the Sun of Righteousness brought a new sunrise of hope.
Adam and Eve – The Sun of Righteousness Brings Hope After Tragedy.
Adam and Eve experienced deep sorrow when their elder son, Cain, killed their younger son Abel out of jealousy (Genesis 4:1-8). In one tragic moment, they lost one son to death and another to exile.
Their lives were filled with grief and darkness.
But God brought hope through another son named Seth. Later, Seth had a son named Enosh, and during that time, people began to call upon the name of the Lord (Genesis 4:26).
Even in their deepest sorrow, the Sun of Righteousness began to shine again, turning their night of grief into a sunrise of hope.
Noah – Source of Restoration Brings Deliverance After Fear
During the time of Noah, the great flood covered the earth. Noah and his family stayed inside the ark for many days while the waters surrounded them.
Those days were filled with uncertainty and fear.
But God remembered Noah. Eventually, the waters receded, and the earth became dry again (Genesis 8:13-14). Noah and his family safely came out of the ark and offered a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God (Genesis 8:20).
The long night of fear ended because the Rising Saviour brought a new beginning.
Abraham – The Almighty God His Promises
For nearly one hundred years, Abraham and Sarah lived with the pain of childlessness.
Their lives felt like a long night without hope.
But God kept His promise. When Isaac was born, their season of waiting ended, and joy filled their hearts (Genesis 21:1-3).
Through this miracle, the Sun of Righteousness showed that God’s promises always bring light after darkness.
Isaac – The Mighty Healer Brings Comfort After Loss
When Isaac’s mother, Sarah, died, his heart was filled with sorrow.
His life felt empty and dark.
But one evening while Isaac was meditating in the field, Rebekah came into his life (Genesis 24:63-67).
Isaac took her into his mother’s tent and found comfort after his mother’s death.
The Sun of Righteousness turned the darkness of grief into the sunrise of comfort and joy.
King Darius – The Sun of Righteousness Brings Deliverance
When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, Darius the Great was deeply troubled.
That entire night, he could not sleep. He fasted and refused all entertainment (Daniel 6:18).
Early in the morning, he hurried to the lions’ den. When he heard Daniel’s voice and realised that God had protected him, his heart was filled with relief.
The night of fear ended because the Sun of Righteousness brought deliverance.
Jacob – The Lord of Righteousness Restores Life
Jacob believed that his beloved son Joseph had died.
For many years, he mourned deeply and refused comfort (Genesis 37:33-35).
But one day, unexpected news arrived: Joseph was still alive (Genesis 45:26).
In that moment, Jacob’s spirit revived. The Sun of Righteousness turned his long night of sorrow into the joy of restored life.
The Lord of our righteousness Removes Every Darkness

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ, the Sun of Righteousness, removed many kinds of darkness.
1. Darkness of Sickness
The woman with the issue of blood was healed after twelve years of suffering (Mark 5:34).
A bent woman who suffered for eighteen years was healed (Luke 13:10-13).
A man sick for thirty-eight years was healed when Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk” (John 5:8-9).
In each situation, the Sun of Righteousness brought healing.
2. Darkness of Death
Jairus’ daughter was raised to life (Mark 5:41).
The widow’s son at Nain was raised (Luke 7:14-15).
Lazarus came out of the tomb when Jesus called him (John 11:43-44).
The word of the Lord turned death into life.
3. Darkness of Sin
The sinful woman received forgiveness.
Zacchaeus’ life was transformed when Jesus came to his house (Luke 19:1-8).
The Sun of Righteousness removed the darkness of sin.
4. Darkness of Unbelief
The Emmaus disciples recognised Jesus when He broke the bread (Luke 24:30-31).
The fearful disciples received peace when Jesus appeared to them (Luke 24:36).
Thomas’ doubt turned into faith (John 20:27-28).
The Sun of Righteousness brought faith where there was doubt.
Let Jesus Christ Rise in Your Life
Just as Egypt experienced three days of deep darkness before the light returned, many people today walk through seasons of darkness.
You may be experiencing darkness of sin, sickness, sorrow, fear, or unbelief.
But when the Lord of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, rises in your heart, every darkness disappears.
May the Sun of Righteousness rise in your life today and bring healing, joy, peace, and victory.
Amen.
