The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest victory in history. In His childhood, in His ministry, and in His time of suffering, there were many situations where people tried to bury Him in shame, humiliation, reproach, and mockery. Many circumstances tried to drown Him in sorrow and rejection. But through the resurrection of Jesus, death, fear and shame were defeated forever.
Before the Risen Jesus:
- The guards fell down.
- The tomb was opened.
- The earth trembled.
- The holy beings from heaven descended and worshipped Him.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ made the guards fall
The Word of God says:
“He will not let your foot slip, He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” Psalm 121:3-4
God protects His people day and night. He commands His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
It was God who protected Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace so that the fire did not harm them. Daniel 3:25-27
It was God who protected Daniel from the lions’ den. Daniel 6:22
It was God who placed a hedge around Job and protected him from Satan. Job 1:10
It was God who shut Noah inside the ark and protected him from the great flood. Genesis 7:16
It was God who surrounded the prophet Elisha with heavenly protection and saved him from the enemy army. 2 Kings 6:17
Such is the true Guardian, Jesus Christ.
Before this mighty Guardian, the earthly guards themselves fell down.
Those who were watching the tomb fell helpless before the One who watches over the whole world.
The resurrection of Jesus removed fear and unbelief
When the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, rose from the dead, the darkness within the disciples disappeared.
Among the disciples there were:
- Unbelief
- Doubt
- Fear
- Sorrow
- Discouragement
- Cowardice
But when the risen Jesus appeared to them, all these were buried forever.
Even before the sun of this world rose, Jesus, the Sun of Righteousness, rose in glory.
When Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, their sorrow disappeared. – Luke 24:31
Their eyes were opened.
Later, while the eleven disciples were speaking together, the two disciples from Emmaus explained how Jesus had appeared to them. At that very moment, Jesus appeared again among them and said. Peace be with you. The fear, doubt, and confusion in their hearts disappeared. Jesus told them, “Touch Me and see.” Luke 24:39 When they touched Him, the spirit of unbelief that was tormenting them left them. Just as the woman who had the issue of blood was healed the moment she touched Jesus, the life-giving power of Christ entered her, and her sickness disappeared. In the same way, when the disciples touched the Lord of Life, the lifelessness within them left them.
Peter, who had denied Jesus three times, saying he did not know Him, saw the risen Lord. At that moment, his cowardice vanished. Later, he boldly proclaimed, You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead. We are witnesses to this. Acts 3:15 He also declared, Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20 The people were astonished at the courage of Peter and John. Acts 4:13.
The stone rolled away at the resurrection of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ carries many divine titles
- The Cornerstone
- The Living Stone
- The Precious Stone
- The Spiritual Rock
Before this, the rock, Jesus Christ, the stone of the tomb, was rolled away. Mark 16:4

The Bible says
In the presence of the Lord, the mountains melt like wax. Psalm 97:5
Mountains leap like rams before Him. When Jesus, the eternal Rock, rose from the dead, the heavy stone covering the tomb was rolled away. No matter how big the obstacles are, no matter how heavy the stones in life may seem, they cannot stand before the Rock, Jesus Christ. As it is written, “They drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4 Before His presence, even mountains must flee.
Before the Open Tomb
Opened Eyes
The disciples’ eyes were closed because of sorrow. Even though the risen Jesus stood beside them, they could not recognise Him. But the open tomb led to the opening of their eyes. When Jesus broke the bread, immediately their eyes were opened, and they recognised Him. Luke 24:31
Opened Ears
The women went to the tomb to anoint Jesus with spices. When they saw the open tomb, they were amazed. They saw a heavenly messenger shining like lightning and heard the voice of the angel. Before this moment, they had never experienced seeing angels. But because the tomb was opened, their spiritual ears were opened to hear the message of God. Matthew 28:3-7
Opened Minds
Because the disciples’ minds were closed, they could not understand the Scriptures. But Jesus opened their minds so that they could understand the Word of God. Luke 24:45
Opened Mouths
Before the open tomb, the mouths of the disciples were opened. They became witnesses to the ends of the earth. Peter, who once could not confess Jesus before others, now boldly declared before the rulers, “You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.” Acts 3:15
He proclaimed:
We cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard. Because they preached the message of the resurrection, nearly 5,000 people believed. Acts 4:1-4 The resurrection of Jesus transformed the disciples and the women into powerful witnesses.
They became great teachers. They performed mighty miracles and wonders. They boldly testified, “He appeared to us.” “He spoke with us.” They openly proclaimed the living Christ.
Dear friends, The resurrection of Jesus must bring resurrection into your life as well. It must raise you from sin and from spiritual death. The resurrection of Jesus brings new life, hope, and courage into your hearts. The opened tomb must open your mouth to become witnesses for Christ. It must open your ears to hear God’s voice. It must open your eyes to see the Lord clearly. It must strengthen your feet to run for the Gospel.
Just as Jesus conquered death and rose again, in the same way, you too will receive victory in your
- troubles
- sufferings
- insults
- hardships
- struggles
- difficult situations
Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we too can rise above every fear, every struggle, and every darkness through the power of the Resurrection. May you also rise in victory through the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
May the God of gods grant you this blessed grace through the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Amen..
