God’s Plan is Always Good, Joseph’s Life is the Best Example.

It was Sunday, and the little children were sitting in the class. Raju, Kumari and Jaya were listening to a story. We will learn about Joseph’s Life along with this moral story.

“Children,” the teacher began, “long ago there lived a missionary. In those days, there were no cars. So the missionary used to travel on a horse. He went over hills, mountains, and small mud paths on his horse. He carried all his things in a box tied to the horse. After putting on the saddle, he would sit on the horse and ride. Horses carried God’s servants everywhere. But today we have cars, scooters and bicycles.

The missionary’s name was Mr Smith. He used to think about God while riding his horse. He visited many villages and taught God’s Word. He prayed for sick people.

One day, Mr Smith got ready to travel. He climbed on his horse and started his journey. He had to travel 30 miles to a small village because a gospel meeting was arranged there. Suddenly, it started raining heavily. The rain did not stop. It became heavier and heavier. Mr Smith was completely wet.

‘Lord, why did You send this rain now?’ he wondered. He prayed silently and kept riding. After some distance, the road turned suddenly.

‘Hey! Who is that? Stop there!’ someone shouted loudly.

‘Who are you?’ Mr Smith asked.

A man cried, ‘I slipped in the mud. I fell down and hurt my leg. It is paining badly!’

Mr Smith quickly got down from his horse. He helped the man stand up, tied a cloth around his leg, and prayed for him.

The rain stopped now. Mr Smith took the man under a tree and helped him sit on a stone.

‘Brother, Jesus is your Saviour. He cares for you. Trust in Him,’ Mr Smith said.

The man replied, ‘Sir, my name is Dick. I am the head of the nearby village. I have seen you once and heard your preaching. I hated you and wanted to kill you. I was waiting on this road to attack you. But I slipped and fell because of this rain.’

Mr Smith asked, ‘What happened to your leg?’

Dick said, ‘I was running in the rain. I slipped and bent my leg. But now, after your prayer, it feels better.’

‘Praise God!’ Mr Smith said.

Dick continued, ‘Sir, please come to my village and tell my people about Jesus. I want everyone in my village to believe in Him.’

Mr Smith smiled and said, Just a little while ago, I was upset because of the rain. Now I understand why God sent the rain. God planned everything for your salvation.

Joseph’s life

Now we will see God’s Plan in Joseph’s life.

Children, a similar thing happened in Joseph’s life, too.

We can read Joseph’s life story in the book of Genesis, chapters 37 to 50.

Joseph was dearly loved by his father Jacob. Jacob even made a colourful coat for Joseph. This made his brothers jealous and angry. They wanted to harm Joseph.

Reuben tried to protect Joseph and told the other brothers not to kill him but to put him in a pit. Later, when some traders were passing by, Judah suggested selling Joseph to them. So Joseph was sold and taken to Egypt.

In Egypt, Joseph stayed in Potiphar’s house. God blessed Potiphar because of Joseph. But Potiphar’s wife tried to make Joseph do wrong things. Joseph refused and stayed pure. Because of this, she became angry and Joseph was put in prison.

In prison, Joseph met the cupbearer and the baker. Both had dreams, and Joseph explained the meaning. Everything happened exactly as he said. You are seeing that there are many kinds of turns in Joseph’s life.

Joseph is the second ruler of Egypt. God did miraculous things in Joseph’s Life

After some time, Pharaoh had a dream. No one could explain it except Joseph. God gave Joseph wisdom, and he told Pharaoh the meaning. Pharaoh was so pleased that he made Joseph the second ruler of Egypt.

With God’s wisdom, Joseph stored food during good years. When a big famine came, Joseph helped save many people.

His brothers also came to Egypt to buy food. They bowed before Joseph, not knowing he was their own brother. Joseph tested them, but later he forgave them. He told them,

“God sent me here before you to save many lives.”

Joseph never complained to God in entirety in Joseph’s Life. Even in hard times, he trusted God. And God turned all his troubles into blessings. We can learn so many things from Joseph’s life

What we need to learn from the moral story and Joseph’s Life

Children, do you see?

Just like the missionary and Joseph, sometimes God allows difficulties in our lives. They may look painful for a short time, but God is planning something wonderful in your life as like Joseph’s life. Look at Joseph’s life. He faced so many troubles in his life, but after all the sufferings God gave him honoured among all his people, especially his family. God blessed Joseph’s life.

The village officer who hated the missionary and came to take revenge, God changed him and made him a friend of the missionary. In the same way, the brother who held anger and revenge against Joseph was brought by God to stand before Joseph, and they bowed down to him. You have seen how God turns those who want to take revenge into our friends and saves them.

Therefore, even if anyone is angry with you, you do not need to be afraid. God is watching everything. God will be on your side. Just as God was with Joseph in Joseph’s life, God will be with you in your life,

So we must trust God always as Joseph trusted

As Jesus said in Luke 22:42,

“Not my will, but Yours be done.”
